IPTV connections explained: installed devices versus active streams

Understand what an IPTV connection counts, compare everyday household examples and choose enough streams for the screens that actually play together.

Adapted from the original FlexStream connection guide published 14 October 2026 and the owner-confirmed one-to-five-connection plan model. Personal-use and account restrictions follow the linked IPTV Services seller terms. These are worked household examples, not device tests. Recording, multiview and installation limits require confirmation for the actual setup.

One connection means one stream playing

An IPTV connection is one active stream. A television playing a channel uses one. A tablet playing a film alongside it uses another. The number to choose is how many screens will play together, rather than how many televisions, phones or tablets you own.

A player installed on a device is a separate thing. An installed app that is closed is not using a playback connection. That distinction does not create an unlimited-installation or account-sharing entitlement: the player’s own rules and the service terms still apply.

FlexStream IPTV plans offer one to five simultaneous connections. Think about the busiest ordinary evening in your household and count the screens that will actually be playing then. That count is more useful than a list of every device in the house.

Three installed screens can need one, two or three connections

Consider a living-room TV, a bedroom TV and a tablet. All three have a player set up, but the plan requirement changes with the evening. The installed count stays at three in every example below.

Choose for the arrangement you want to use regularly. Buying a one-connection plan for a household that often watches on two screens means somebody will need to stop playback before the other can start.

What counts toward your selection

Count playback, including a screen left running in an empty room. A device does not stop using a stream simply because nobody is looking at it. Stop playback or close the player when you finish.

  • A TV, phone, tablet or computer actively playing a channel, movie or episode uses a connection.
  • A second device playing at the same time needs another connection, even if both screens are in the same room.
  • Changing the channel on one screen normally replaces that screen’s existing stream; it is not an additional screen.
  • A player installed but closed does not use a playback connection.
  • Recording and multiview can involve extra streams. Ask support how your exact player and service handle them before relying on either.

Move between screens without leaving a stream running

One connection can suit someone who watches on the living-room TV in the evening and then moves to a tablet. The useful habit is to stop the first stream before starting the next one.

Close the player on the screen you are leaving, then open it on the screen you want to use. If the new screen reports that the account is already in use, check the other devices for playback that was left running. Do not keep repeatedly signing in on several devices while investigating.

If two people regularly want different programmes at the same moment, choose two connections. A larger connection count supports that simultaneous use; it does not change which devices or player apps are compatible.

Ask separately about recording, multiview and sharing

A multiview screen can display several channels at once, and each picture may be a separate stream. Recording may keep a stream running while you watch something else. The number of physical screens alone is therefore not enough to answer these cases.

The household planner covers ordinary single-stream playback on each device. It does not grant recording rights, confirm multiview support or promise that these features count as one connection. Tell support the player name and the feature you want to use.

Extra connections are for use within the seller’s personal, non-commercial account terms. Do not assume they permit sharing credentials with another household, resale, restreaming or public screening. Ask support before planning a setup outside those terms.

What to send support when the count looks wrong

Player apps use different error messages. The helpful detail is what was happening: which devices were playing, your purchased connection count and whether the problem affected one channel or every channel.

For example, report it if starting a second screen stops the first even though your plan includes two connections, or if a player reports too many connections while all other players are closed. Include the exact error text or a screenshot with private account details hidden.

  • Your order reference and the number of connections purchased.
  • The device models and player names involved.
  • Which screens were playing when the problem appeared.
  • Whether the issue affects one channel, several channels or the whole login.
  • The exact message and when it started. Never send your password or full payment-card details.

A quick household screen worksheet

List each screen with its room, device model and player. Then imagine the evening when the most people are watching different things. Mark only the screens that will play at that same moment and add those marks together.

Keep installed and playing as two separate columns. A living-room TV and a tablet that are never used together need one stream for this calculation. Add a bedroom TV playing at the same time and the count becomes two.

Repeat the exercise when a new TV arrives or your viewing habits change. If the count is above five, or depends on recording or multiview, contact support before buying. Then compare the current plan totals for the connection count you actually need.

Put it into practice.

Compare the live plan totals or request a trial for your own device and connection.
